Where are you located?
Polar Bear Gifts is a family-owned Alaska gift shop with two locations in downtown Anchorage, Alaska. We proudly offer one of Alaska's largest selections of souvenirs, Alaska-made products, apparel, gifts, and unique keepsakes for visitors and locals alike.
What's the difference between your two locations?
Our 4th Avenue store is our larger location, but both of our downtown Anchorage stores offer a wide selection of Alaska souvenirs, gifts, apparel, and Alaska-made products. While you'll find many of the same customer favorites at each location, each store also carries unique items, making both locations worth a visit.
What are your store hours?
Our hours vary throughout the year, with extended hours during Alaska's busy summer tourism season. Please visit our Hours of Operation page for our current schedule. If you have any questions, feel free to call us at (907) 274-4387.
What is the sales tax in Anchorage?
Anchorage has no local sales tax, and Alaska has no statewide sales tax, so the price you see is the price you pay. While many communities throughout Alaska do charge a local sales tax, Anchorage does not, making it a great place to shop before heading home.
Do you ship orders?
Yes! We ship to addresses throughout the United States. You can place an order through our online store or have purchases from either of our Anchorage locations shipped directly to your home, so you don't have to worry about fitting everything in your luggage or bringing larger purchases back on your cruise or flight. Shipping costs are calculated during online checkout, and our team can provide shipping options for in-store purchases.
Do you offer local pickup?
Yes! Local pickup is available at our 5th Avenue store. Simply select Local Pickup during checkout, and we'll notify you as soon as your order is ready for pickup.
Where can I park when visiting Polar Bear Gifts?
Parking is available near both of our downtown Anchorage locations. You'll find metered street parking throughout downtown, along with several public pay parking lots within a short walk of both stores.

How long does shipping take?
Most orders ship within 1–3 business days via USPS Priority Mail.
Do you ship internationally?
At this time, we only ship to addresses within the United States. We appreciate your interest and hope to expand our shipping options in the future.
Can I send a gift directly to someone?
Yes! We can ship gifts directly to your recipient.
Products
Do you sell genuine ulu knives?
Yes. We carry traditional ulu knives designed for food preparation, chopping, and everyday kitchen use.
Can I fly with an ulu knife?
Yes! Ulu knives are permitted in checked luggage, but they are NOT allowed in carry-on bags. If you're traveling by air, be sure to pack your ulu securely in your checked baggage before heading to the airport. If you prefer not to pack it yourself, we're happy to help ship your ulu home for you.
Can I bring an ulu knife on a cruise ship?
In most cases, ulu knives are not permitted in your carry-on belongings when boarding a cruise ship and may be held by the cruise line until the end of your voyage. Policies can vary by cruise line, so we recommend checking with your cruise operator before boarding. If needed, we're happy to help ship your ulu home instead.
Do you sell Alaska Native art?
We carry products inspired by Alaska Native cultures as well as authentic works from Alaska artists. Product availability varies.
Can I buy products online if I saw them in your store?
Many products are available on our website. If you don't see an item online, contact us—we may still have it available.
Returns
What is your return policy?
We accept returns of unused merchandise within 7 days of purchase with the original receipt. To be eligible for a return, items must be in their original condition with all tags attached. Some items may not be eligible for return.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Please contact us as soon as possible with photos of the damage, and we'll help make it right.
